Overview
Our client was the subject of a police investigation following intelligence suggesting he had downloaded indecent images of children. A Section 8 warrant was executed at his home, during which electronic devices were seized along with a quantity of cannabis. Notably, he was not arrested at this stage.
Legal Representation
Following an initial consultation, the client instructed expert sexual offence solicitor Kelly Blake to represent him during the police investigation. Early legal intervention ensured his rights were protected and a clear strategy was implemented from the outset.
Proactive Steps
Recognising the importance of addressing personal difficulties, the client engaged with Safer Lives to undertake therapy and begin addressing underlying issues that may have been of concern to the authorities.
Outcome
After 20 months of close case management, the investigation concluded with the police taking no further action due to a lack of evidence. The cannabis found during the search was also not pursued by the police.
This case highlights that intelligence alone does not equate to evidence. It also underscores the importance of obtaining expert sexual offence legal advice at the earliest stage. By doing so, this client was able to safeguard his position and avoid prosecution.
